  1. Welcome to the Magic Notes V2.0 for Win3.1 and Win95/NT3.51

  3. How to install
  4. --------------
  5.  
  6. Unzip the files in this archive and run SETUP.EXE program from Windows.
  7. The setup program will automatically detect which operating system you're
  8. running on.
  9.  
  10. Note!
  11. -----
  12. This new version saves notes in a slightly different format
  13. which means if you decide to change back to a previous version,
  14. you will NOT be able to load your saved notes from this version.
  15. To prevent this you can install this version in a different directory.
  16.  
  17. New features
  18. ------------
  19.  
  20. o    New "Hide all" / "Show All" option which temporarily hides
  21.     your notes.
  22. o    New duplicate note function.
  23. o    Improved alarm reporting.
  24. o    New print function which allows you to print out notes.
  25.     (see Print Note in the note menu)
  26. o    Now allows you to set the color of the text inside a note
  27.     using the color selection in the font dialog (see Select Font).
  28. o    New picture for the system menu on the notes to make it look
  29.     more like Win95. Win95 version also has a close button on the
  30.     right.
  31. o    Your notes data is backed up when you start Magic Notes
  32.     from NOTES.DAT to NOTES.BAK.

  36. 2.0    Fixed problem with uninstall. Also modified the setup
  37.     program to eliminate the need to uninstall a previous version.
  38. 1.98    Fixed bug where toolbar didn't like being moved from the
  39.     Preference dialog.
  40. 1.97    Added option to register from about box.
  41. 1.96a    Small fix to the setup program. Version number only changed
  42.     in the setup program. 
  43. 1.96    Windows 95 and NT/32s version made into one executable to
  44.     save space and make the installation easier.
  45. 1.95    Small daylight saving fix.
  46. 1.91    Doesn't crash when you close a note.
  47. 1.90    Better international support for the ShowHide dialog.
  48.     Changed hotkeys to prevent incompatibility.
  49.     Improved the window resizing code to better fit what's
  50.     inside the window.
  51.     Fixed bug in alarm dialog.
  52.     One long-standing bug in the AutoSave routine fixed
  53.     where the windows would go into a endless loop until
  54.     the program returned with a 'Stack error'.
  55.     Severe bug under Win3.1 where you couldn't edit or
  56.     see you notes at all. To prevent this type of problem
  57.     I will now test under all designated operating systems
  58.     (Win3.x/NT/Win95) before release.
  59. 1.85    Bug fix in alarm where weekday alarms didn't work correcly
  60.     Now the show/hide dialog has scrollbars so all the text is
  61.     visible.
  62.     Fixed bug where a note would crash if minimized.
  63. 1.81    Added check in uninstall if Magic Notes where running.
  64.     Win95 only: New preference setting allows the toolbar to be
  65.     hidden on startup.
  66.     Added Set Title command.
  67.     Added Insert current date and Insert current time.
  68.     Added several shortcut keys for often used functions.
  69. 1.80    Closing problem with notes fixed.
  70.     Moved saving code when exiting preventing notes to disappear
  71.     next time Magic Notes was started.
  72.     Now saves notes if program receives message that Windows
  73.     is exiting.
  74. 1.72    Minor bugfixes in Windows 95 version.
  75.     Always on top fixed when the toolbar had been moved with the
  76.     right mousebutton.
  77. 1.71     Added option to move the toolbar using the right mousebutton
  78.     to anywhere on the screen.
  79.     Now if the icon properties is set to minimize on startup
  80.     Magic Notes will minimize itself or if running Win95,
  81.     the toolbar will hide and show a trayicon instead.
  82. 1.65    Added new Always On Top option to allow for the toolbar
  83.     and note to behave like normal windows.
  84.     Added automatic setting of window title to the first line
  85.     of text in a note when you deactivate it.

  88. 1.61    Problem fixed with installation of Win16 version.
  89. 1.60    Made a special 95/NT4.0 version. Only difference for
  90.     now is a hide toolbar option which will create a
  91.     trayicon in the taskbar. Also changed the setup program
  92.     to show more informal messages.
  93. 1.51    Added support for REGISTER.EXE in SETUP.EXE
  94. 1.50    Fixed the setup program to work under NT 4.0 (Beta).

  112. How to register
  113. -----------
  114. SETUP.EXE will install a program called REGISTER.EXE which is used
  115. to register by email, fax or mail through the services of
  116. "Kagi Shareware". Run the program to see the list of accepted
  117. payment methods. Once the payment has been confirmed, I will
  118. send you a disk with the latest version and your registration number.
  119. If registered via email, I will send you your registration number
  120. as soon as I receive confirmation from Kagi Shareware.
